One of Canada’s leading architects, Bill graduated from the University of British Columbia with distinction in 1978, winning the Alpha Rho Chi Gold Medal. Bill has 36 years of experience in architecture, overseeing the design and construction of over 550 buildings including the development of a number of institutional facilities throughout the world. He successfully combines his extensive design experience
with his inclusive and direct leadership style.
Considered a visionary in his field, Bill is highly respected in the architectural design community. His work has been published extensively, and much of it has been awarded prestigiously including a Governor General’s Award for Architecture, AIA Justice Facilities Award, Canadian Architect Award of Excellence, City of Calgary Mayor's Urban Design Awards and several Alberta Association of Architects Awards of Excellence.
In his professional volunteer work, Bill served as President of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, member of the Calgary Planning Commission, member of the Canadian Architect Awards jury, and Chair of the Calgary Urban Design Review Panel. At the community level, he has chaired the Calgary Downtown Association, served on the Board of the Calgary Region Arts Foundation, served as the President of the Calgary Science Centre Society, and served as a director on the Board of Calgary Economic Development. Bill currently serves as a member of the Honens Pro-Am Committee, chairs the Westgate Park Condominium Corporation, and is an adjunct professor at the
University of Calgary's Faculty of Environmental Design.
